Measure what Matters
Measure What Matters
Using the WelFarm app, veterinarians and farmers can quickly record individual animal tail observations.
Tail scoring can capture:
N – Normal
No visible or palpable lesions.
D – Deviated
Visible deviations in tail structure.
T – Trauma / Swelling
Observations may include:
visible skin or soft tissue damage
soft swelling
hard swelling or callus formation
S – Shortened
Tails that have been shortened, amputated or docked.
Zone Based Scoring
WelFarm supports tail scoring by location along the tail using standardised tail zones:
Zone 1 — top third of the tail
Zone 2 — middle third of the tail
Zone 3 — lower third through to the tail tip
This helps support consistent recording and clearer interpretation of results.
